Since 2009, EU Institutions have been UNIDO’s largest provider of voluntary contributions from governmental sources. Together with its Member States, the European Union is the largest contributor to UNIDO. The European Union has regularly invested in UNIDO technical cooperation and policy advisory services. The cooperation has progressed through policy dialogue and joint programming based on developing countries’ or regions’ needs and requests. The year 2020 marked the United Nations’ 75th anniversary and the European Union’s 70th anniversary. Despite extraordinarily challenging times, the partnership between UNIDO and the European Union remained strong, as we shared similar visions to achieve inclusive and sustainable industrial development that leaves no one behind.
